If you love crystals as much as I do, you know that it’s super important to maintain the optimal energetic state of your crystals. How do you do that? Cleansing, charging, and programming!
Do these three things and ensure your crystals are aligned with your intentions and ready to support your spiritual growth. But for each of these steps, there are several ways you can go about it. So let’s talk about your options for cleansing, charging, and programming your crystals.
Cleansing Because crystals have the capacity to absorb and hold onto energies – both positive and negative – you’ve got to cleanse them. This removes any unwanted or stagnant energies, allowing them to return to their natural state. Here are a few methods you can use:
Sunlight and Moonlight: Placing your crystals under sunlight (preferably in the early morning or late afternoon) or moonlight (during the full moon) for a few hours can cleanse them effectively.
Smudging: Pass your crystals through the smoke of sacred herbs, such as incense, bay leaf, rosemary, sage or palo santo, to clear their energy. Please make every effort to use sage that is locally sourced from a consciously farmed, indigenous-led organization.
Water Cleansing: Some crystals can be cleansed by rinsing them with clean water. However, be cautious. Not all crystals are water-safe. Avoid using water on soft or porous stones or selenite… definitely not selenite! Maybe double check with a friend or on Google before you toss’er in the water bowl!
Charging
After cleansing, you’ll want to recharge your crystals with fresh energy. Charging infuses your crystals with new vitality and amplifies their natural properties. Here are a few ways you can go about charging your crystals:
Sun and Moon Charging: Just as sunlight and moonlight cleanse, they also charge crystals. Leave your cleansed crystals in sunlight or moonlight for a few hours to infuse them with rejuvenating energy.
Crystal Clusters: Place your crystals on a larger crystal cluster, such as amethyst or quartz, overnight. The cluster's energy will transfer to your crystals and charge them.
Visualization: Hold your crystal in your hand, close your eyes, and visualize it being surrounded by a radiant light that replenishes its energy. Visualize your intention infusing the crystal.
Programming Programming is the act of setting a specific intention for your crystals. By programming your crystals, you guide their energy toward a specified purpose. You’ll want to do this in a quiet space where you won't be disturbed. Take a few deep breaths to center yourself. Then go through these steps to program them:
Hold the Crystal: Hold the crystal you want to program in your hand. Close your eyes and focus on the energy, feelings and emotions that you want to place into the crystal (protection, abundance, love, health). Intentionally bring yourself into the vibration and push that energy/intention into the crystal. Imagine it’s already yours. Really feel it!
Intention and Visualization: Clearly and confidently state your intention for the crystal (silently or aloud). Be specific and affirmative. For example, “I am safe and protected from all things that wish me harm or interference!” Or “I am financially abundant and have enough to share with others!” Imagine your intention being absorbed by the crystal. Visualize the crystal radiating with the energy of your intention.
Thank the Crystal: Express gratitude to the crystal for its partnership in your intention. Be grateful for the support it will provide you on your journey.
These practices help you build a strong and harmonious relationship with your crystals and with your own energy field. Regularly tending to your crystals' energetic needs ensures that they are always ready to support you on your spiritual journey. Cleanse, clear, and reset them as regularly as you feel necessary, but I suggest you do it at least once a month.
