A Fog Clearing Visualization Exercise for Any Time You Feel Unclear

We all have times when we are feeling like we’re lacking clarity. Sometimes it’s the planets at work – like our last Venus retrograde – and sometimes, there we may just be tired, processing, or energetically drained.

Whatever the reason, a fog clearing visualization exercise is a practice you can use any time. And actually, it is a great thing to do at the end of any retrograde, and we just had a whole bunch.

So here’s what you can do to help boost your mental clarity: Imagine yourself in a calming environment where you gradually dispel mental fog or clutter, allowing your thoughts to become clearer and your mind to feel more focused and tranquil.

That’s it in a nutshell, but here’s the step-by-step breakdown on how exactly to do this.

1. Find a Quiet Space: Choose a quiet and comfortable place where you won't be disturbed. Sit or lie down in a relaxed position.

2. Deep Breathing: Begin by taking a few deep, slow breaths. Inhale deeply through your nose, hold for a moment, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. This helps relax your body and mind. Try to exhale longer than you inhale. For example, four seconds in, eight seconds out.

3. Setting the Scene: Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a calming and serene environment. This could be a beach, a forest, a meadow, or any place that makes you feel at ease. Visualize the details: the colors, textures, and sounds of the environment. Trust that you are really there!

4. Visualize the Fog: As you settle into this environment, imagine a light fog or mist surrounding you. This fog represents any mental clutter, stress, or distractions that you're currently experiencing. This can be your own energies or energy from other people. Feel into the confusion, frustration, sadness, or whatever else is coming up; acknowledge it.

5. Clearing the Fog: With each deep breath you take, visualize that you're exhaling the fog. As you exhale, imagine the fog begins to move away from you. With each exhale it is dissipating and clearing away, revealing a clear and bright space in front of you. Feel those previous emotions beginning to fade and instead lean into the feelings you wish to carry forward; ie, clarity, calm, trust, joy, etc.

6. Focused Breathing: Continue the deep breathing, inhaling positivity and clarity, and exhaling any remaining mental fog. As you do this, imagine the mental clarity spreading throughout your mind.

7. Invoking Calmness: With each breath, feel a sense of calmness and tranquility washing over you. Let go of any tension or worries as you continue to focus on your breath and the clearing process.

8. Reaffirmation: During this process, you can repeat positive affirmations or mantras to reinforce the feeling of mental clarity. For example, you might repeat phrases like "My mind is clear and focused" or "I am calm and centered."

9. Gradual Return: When you feel that the mental fog has lifted and you are in a state of calm and a little more clarity, slowly transition your awareness back to your physical surroundings. Wiggle your fingers and toes, and take a few more deep breaths. Bring gentle movement back into the body and open your eyes. Welcome back!

10. Reflect and Appreciate: Take a moment to reflect on the experience. How do you feel now compared to when you started? Appreciate the mental clarity you've achieved through this exercise. Send gratitude to yourself for taking the time to do this and to your Guides/The Universe for supporting this energy clearing.
